I want to offer my heartfelt sympathy to the Eikenberry family. Steve was a fine man--decent and good--and an exemplary educator. I loved teaching under his leadership. He was fair, steady, and organized; and he had what so many school administrators lack today--a heart. He did more than what was expedient; he did what was right. I also loved working with his children, Mike and Janie, who were some of the best students I had while teaching. They were also just good people, and I think that is a testament to the fine parenting they had. So sad to lose this great man so soon.
May God comfort your family in your great loss.
So sorry for your loss.
I look at the picture and remember that beautiful smile on his face.I personally owe him a huge thank-you for all the pep talks, the way he always encouraged me to look forward...He was one of the finest men I have known. I want to send my thoughts to the entire family and let you know we are all praying for you. Please remember all the wonderful memories you have shared with him..Nancy I will remember you in prayer each day...hugs

Dear Nancy, Jane, Mike, and family members,
To hear about Mr. Eikenberry's passing saddened me to the core. He is and always will be a honorable man. I am so fortunate to have started my teaching career with him at Wabash. He was truly a blessing to us at WCS. I am sorry for your loss. It will be hard not to have him around. I LOVE Mr. Eikenberry and I LOVE all of you!
May he be in heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus!
I am sorry to hear of Steve’s passing. Throughout my time at WHS as a student, he was a great mentor to me and always willing to spend time talking and helping me develop in a leadership capacity. His support helped me develop into what I would like to think as a decent leader, but also has shaped some of my actions as a principal. His passion for student development is something I look to emulate with my students today. Although he did not hire me at WMS directly, I am quire sure he had a hand in my getting hired as a young social studies teacher at Wabash Middle School and for that I am grateful.
I roundly remember passing Steve on almost a nightly basis as we were both “runners” about each evening.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all as you work through this difficult time.
Nancy, Mike and Family, and Jane and Family; Chris and I were so very heartbroken to hear of Mr. Eikenberry's passing. He was such an amazing educator and such a wonderful, genuine, and kind soul! He served as an example to my husband, Chris, as to the kind of educator he wanted to strive to become. Your husband, father, and grandfather truly made this world a better place, and I feel blessed to have known him. All of you will be in our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult and sad time.
Caroline, Chloe, Anna, and Amelia
Praying that God’s arms of comfort surround you and your family during this time.

@Steve was our very dear friend for over 50 years. As a longtime educator, he touched so many students and colleagues lives in a positive way. He is one of the finest men we have been privileged to have as a friend.
Above all, he exemplified integrity, loyalty to his family and friends, and a genuine kindness.
We will miss having his as part of our lives.
